So, let me take you on a little journey back to 2020. During lockdown, when side hustles became real, I was full of ideas, excitement, and, let’s be honest, a bit of pride. A relative and I launched a clothing brand. It had a modicum of success, people liked our designs, we were even featured in some national newspapers, and for a while, it felt like we were really onto something.
But as the months turned into years, I found myself sinking more and more money into it, chasing a dream that just didn’t seem to line up with reality. By 2023, I had to make the tough decision to cease trading. It was a blow to my ego and my bank account, but what came next was far more valuable than I ever expected.
My Year of Refinement
You see, in 2024, the Lord took me into what I like to call my “year of refinement.” And let me tell you, it was no walk in the park. It was a year of stripping back, looking inward, and really listening to Jesus. One of the biggest revelations He gave me was this: I hadn’t sought Him. Not for His advice, not for His blessing, not for His wisdom. I was out there trying to do it all on my own, thinking I was the CEO of my life. Spoiler alert: I’m not.
Joining The Family Business
Now, I’m glad to share that I’ve joined the family business – The LORDS. Jesus led me to the truth that I am in partnership with Him. He is my business partner. In fact, He’s the senior partner, and I’m just here to follow His lead. Proverbs 3:5-6 says it perfectly: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” How could I have missed this? I mean, I’ve been a believer for many years, but sometimes it’s the most basic truths that we overlook.
And here’s the most amazing part: as believers, we are co-heirs with Christ! Romans 8:17 says, “Now if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” This means I’m not just working for Him; I’m working with Him. What an honour to be in partnership with the King of Kings!
The Lord’s Design for Every Aspect of Life
One of the biggest traps we can fall into is separating our spiritual lives from our careers, as though they belong in different compartments. But the truth is, the Lord designed every aspect of our lives, and He has a clear purpose and plan for all of it. Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Our work, our families, our ministries, none of it is separate from our walk with Him. Ephesians 2:10 tells us, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” This means that He’s already laid out the path for our careers and callings, and it’s up to us to seek Him in every step. When we align ourselves with His design, there’s a peace and purpose that follows because we’re not just working; we’re worshiping through our work.

A Transformed Approach to Grace & Grit Corner
This realisation has completely transformed how I approach Grace & Grit Corner. This blog, this platform, and everything it represents isn’t mine; it’s His. I’m the shop steward. And let me tell you, there is so much peace in that.
Philippians 4:6-7 has become my anchor: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Exciting News: Guest Writers!
Now, here’s something exciting: Grace & Grit Corner isn’t just going to be my voice. I’ll be inviting some wonderful guest writers to share their thoughts, experiences, and testimonies. These are women who have their own journeys of faith, resilience, and learning to trust God through the ups and downs of life. I’m so thrilled to give them a space to encourage and inspire you because we all need to be encouraged from time to time.
Redefining Success
As I continue this walk with Jesus as my partner, I’m learning that success isn’t about sales numbers or Instagram likes (though let’s be real, we all check them). It’s about obedience, faithfulness, and glorifying Him in everything I do. 1 Corinthians 10:31 sums it up: “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Amen to that!
A Gentle Nudge for You
So, if you’re reading this and you’re feeling like you’ve been trying to do it all on your own, let this be your gentle nudge. Invite Jesus into your plans. Seek Him first (Matthew 6:33). Trust Him to guide you. And if you’re like me and you’ve made a few mistakes along the way, don’t beat yourself up. His grace is more than enough.
Let’s Seek Guidance From The Lord
Dear Lord, thank You for being our guide, our partner, and our source of wisdom in every area of our lives. Help us to seek You first in all our plans and decisions. Teach us to trust Your timing and to rely on Your strength. May our work glorify You and serve others. Fill us with Your peace, and let Your grace carry us through every challenge. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank You and What’s Next
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for Grace & Grit Corner. Let’s keep rooting ourselves in grace and staying unshaken by trials.
